10 Ways To Dress Better In 2015

The new year is an awesome opportunity to revamp your personal style.

We put together 10 tips to make 2015 your best dressed year yet.

Make Pinterest Your BFF
This first tip is an essential. By using Pinterest you can not only keep up on the trends celebrities and designers are sporting, but you also can look into what your friends may be interested in.

And you can just pin outfit ideas for inspiration.

Stay Up On Trends
There are many ways to keep up on current trends from simply watching TV to roaming the world wide web. Just pay attention to your surroundings. Take some mental notes when you see other fashionistas walking around campus or work.

Budget For New Clothes
There are so many apps that allow you to budget your money. Set aside a certain amount each month to spend on clothes, but don’t feel pressured to spend that exact amount, and obviously put bills and more important expenses first.

Invest In Key Pieces
If you want to splurge, get something that is classic and will remain in style for awhile. This could be blazers, t-shirts or jeans. You will feel less guilty spending a little more money on these items as they will (hopefully) last you a long time and will be very versatile. See which pieces we consider to be essentials in every 20-something’s wardrobe here.

Don’t Overspend On Trendy Items
If you invest your money in key pieces, you should not spend a lot on trendy items. Trends are more likely to change. For example, high-waisted pants are in now, but just a few years ago low-rise was on trend. By going the cheaper route and spending less money on trendy items, you will save a lot of money in the long run.

Revive Old Clothes
Instead of buying new clothes, see what you can do to remake the clothes you already have. Whether it’s stitching up a hole or changing the piece altogether, there’s a lot you can do to update your current wardrobe. One of my favorite tricks is to take an old, floor length skirt that was maybe popular a few years ago and turn it into a strapless dress. Belt it to give you some shape.

Search The Racks At Thrift Stores
Finding the right deals, steals and tricks is key when shopping a resale shop or going through old clothes. Look for name brand items that are still in good shape. You can usually find some great stuff from some of your favorite stores, such as American Eagle, Kohl’s and Target.

Buy One Fashion Magazine A Month
You will undoubtedly stay up to date on the latest trends with one mag per month. Vogue and InStyle are obviously great choices, but another standout is People’s Style Watch magazine. It lists what the celebrities are wearing and how you can pull off the trend yourself.

Be Bold
Being bold with your fashion choices can always be fun. Don’t be too afraid to go out of your comfort zone. But also remember it’s important to stay true to yourself and your own personal style.

Be Yourself
Trust your instincts. Only you know you. If you love something and it makes you feel confident, don’t be afraid to wear it. Like stated previously, don’t be afraid to go a little out of your comfort zone—you may be surprised by what you didn’t think you would like.
