5 Great Ways to Save on Beauty

Looking to scale back on the amount of money that goes into looking gorgeous? Yeah, us too! Time to get creative. Try these 5 inexpensive ways to look fab and watch your wallet grow.

Ditch the Highlights & Go Ombre

Ombre styles have proven that they are not just a fad.

For a few years now more and more us are jumping on the ombre bandwagon because it’s cute and low maintenance. No need to visit the salon every few weeks to touch up your roots because this style requires dark roots.

Maintain Your Mani

We know how hard it is to keep polish on for more than just a few days. There are ways to avoid chipping and avoid the nail shop. Nails must be buffed and dry. Nail dehydrator, also know as nail bonder, should be applied prior to polishing. Nail polish, gel polish or even acrylic nails will not stick to oily nails. Every two to three days apply another coat of a good polish like no chips ahead by Essie to keep nails fresh. Use gloves when cleaning or washing dishes as well to protect you mani.

Beauty is Pain; Skip the Wax & Tweeze Your Own Brows

This may seem both difficult and painful but you wallet will thank you. If we skip out on visiting the salon for just our eyebrows for an entire year, that would save roughly $288, considering we’d go every few weeks at the cost of around $12 each visit. This may be enough incentive to get to pluckin’. With practice, becoming a pro at this will be a piece of cake.

Save Old Coffee Grounds to Tighten & Tone

The caffeine in coffee dries up the moisture in the body making it look more toned, thus creating the perfect exfoliant to get rid of cellulite. Pre-made coffee scrubs go for about $22 online, but this can easily be done at home by using the coffee grounds that would usually end up in the trash a mixing it with coconut oil.

Stop Paying for Deep Conditioning Treatments

What do bananas, egg yolks, olive oil and coconut oil all have in common? They are amazing for dry and damaged hair. There’s many health reasons why these ingredients should be in you kitchen anyways so why not make a hair masque and say adios to split ends?

Now, these may not be a simple and driving to the salon and letting them work their magic. However, after getting in the habit of taking care of these things ourselves, we’ll notice we have more disposable income and new found talents!
