College relationships are tough. They’re hard to navigate and communication can get blurred but almost nothing is harder than getting into a relationship with someone and realizing there’s an end date.
It can be difficult to stay happy and upbeat with someone knowing the day it could come to an end.
Expiration dates can happen for a number of reasons, but the hardest can be graduation. The impending date of graduation of a significant other can feel like it’s hanging over your head but the most important thing to do is enjoy every second of the time you have left together.There are a lot of things you can do as a couple to ease any anxiety about an impending graduation or move.
Keep Communication Clear
This is a really stressful time for both of you. Make sure that your lines of communication are open and both of you feel comfortable talking about the future and anything that may be bothering you about the relationship.
Weekly Date Night
A weekly date night gives you both time to spend alone together. Whether it’s going out to dinner or watching a movie, that time together helps build good memories that will carry you through whatever happens and it gives you time alone together outside of a group.
Make Crazy Memories
Doing something fun and spontaneous together that crosses an item off of your bucket list will be fun and carefree. It will help to just laugh and focus on what is in the present and not what the future might hold for either one of you.
It’s important to remember that college relationships are not the end-all be-all, even if it feels like it at the time.
