Fitness wristbands are all the rage. If you weren’t lucky enough to get one from Santa this past Christmas, now may be the time to treat yourself. Here’s what you need to know before shelling out the cash to get one.
Do fitness bands help you stay fit?
According to Joshua Klapow, Ph.
D, “Research has shown that if you want to stick to a new habit, monitoring is one of the best ways to make a change.” This is because it allows you track these metrics without having to do it yourself. These devices do all of the work for you. No matter what the information is, it can serve as motivation to keep going. What do you need a fitness wristband for?
When selecting your wristband, think about what’s most important to you. Are you just looking to track calories burned? Are you counting steps? Are you into getting more detailed information like heart rate and sleep patterns? There are different wristbands that track everything and ones that track just a few details.
Try these on for size!
The Jawbone trackers have different bands depending on how much detail you are looking for. Their least expensive product, the UP MOVE, costs as little as $50 and can be worn as a clip-on or a wristband. It tracks steps, sleep and calories and sends the information to an app. It uses the information to send you motivational notifications and creates little competitions with friends who also have this tracker.
The NIKE+ FUELBAND SE tracks everything the Jawbone does and also sends hourly reminders to get up and move. This band is moderately priced at $79 and made by a trusted fitness brand. Try binge watching shows on Netflix with a robot bracelet reminding you to get off of your butt and move around a little!
The Samsung Gear Fit is a bit more expensive at $150, but it does so much more. Not only can you track everything from calories, steps and heart rate, you can view texts, emails and silence alarms and calls. Additionally, this information can be viewed on the actual screen of the band itself so no need to pull out your phone to view the information.
We love these three because they have different price ranges, the design is awesome and they all give useful information. You don’t have to choose one of these as there are hundreds of fitness bands out there and it all comes down to which design you love and what information you’re looking to gather in order to get to a healthier you.
