Your bedroom is your fortress and this is exactly why it needs to be comfy and gorgeous.
It can feel like remodeling your room will be a lot of work and cost a fortune, but that’s not the case. Here are some updates that are nearly effortless.
If you really want to make your room look great, curtains are the way to do it. You will be shocked at what a difference they make.
The best part about it is that they can be inexpensive if you shop at a discount store like Burlington Coat Factory, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. These stores sell them in pairs, while Target mostly has one-panel packages. You can also make curtains out of your choice of fabric. Curtain rods are very simple to assemble or you can use tension shower rods. You can spice up your walls with decals that are simple to apply and remove, if you like a frequent change. These are so fun and there are a wide variety to choose from. You can go subtle with a few quotes or all the way with a full wall of chevron decals.
If you’re feeling up to a mini project, paint one wall an accent color and leave the other three walls a neutral color. A small can of paint is very inexpensive and with only one wall, it shouldn’t take much time to execute. If you are in an apartment or dorm, be sure to check the rules on this. You may have to paint the wall back to its original color prior to moving out.
Lights brighten everything up! You can hang regular string lights or white Christmas lights for a pretty, romantic feel or even lantern lights for a modern vibe. Shut the main light off and just relax in your sparkly room.
Accent pillows make your bed look super cozy and add a little character to your room. There are so many different patterns and textures—oftentimes they have either sequins or beads stitched on them. You can switch them out with the theme of the room or mix and match colors. Nothing matches these days and we certainly love the creativity in that.
Area rugs can liven up your wood floors or your neutral carpet without having to carpet your room all over again. You can put your bed over it and add an accent piece like an ottoman that will not only look super cute but can also store your pillows and extra blankets.
Now that you have a plan, go out, shop and make your room look amazing. After all, it is where the magic happens!
