P&B Playlist: 10 Acoustic Covers For A Sunday Morning In

Brenna McDonald | On 22, May 2015

Mondays are hard—we get that.

Many people require a full day of relaxation and preparation before they can even think about tackling the first day of the week. That’s why we’ve compiled these ten acoustic covers to set the mood for a laid-back Sunday morning at home.

So stay in your pajamas, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and listen to these covers before the final day of the weekend is up!

“Cool Kids” by the Gardiner Sisters

It’s only fitting that the Gardiner Sisters cover this popular song by Echosmith, another sibling-made band. While the original song is a bit edgy, this cover is much more mellow and easygoing—the very qualities you’d want in a Sunday morning.

“The Call” by Kina Grannis

Kina has us hooked on this cover, which could easily pass as a soundtrack to a dream. Seriously, her voice is flawless and pairing it with Regina Spektor’s lyrics results in pure and lovely magic.

“Crazy in Love” by Daniela Andrade

In this cover, Daniela transforms an upbeat Beyoncé hit into a more simple and honest cover. While the original track is a great pump-up song, this toned down version creates the perfect vibes for just chilling out.

“Blank Space” by Tyler Ward

As if we didn’t already love this song, Tyler has us even more obsessed with his acoustic version! His cover pays homage to the sounds of T-Swift’s past and is the perfect complement to some classic R&R.

“The Scientist” by Alex Cornell

In its original form, this song by Coldplay already has an easygoing feel to it. But Alex mellows it out even more, making it ideal for those weekend mornings when you just want to kick back and relax.

“Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Russian Red

Covers are all about adding a unique spin to a song, and that’s exactly what Russian Red did with Cyndi Lauper’s iconic song. This party-track-turned-lullaby is exactly what you’ll want to hear when you’re prepping to wind down from a busy weekend.

“Wrecking Ball” by Two Worlds

In this cover, Two Worlds take on Miley Cyrus’ tamest track, simplifying it even more. Their impressive vocals and fresh arrangement offer all of the Sunday morning feels for your listening pleasure.

“Little Talks” by Julia Sheer feat. Jon D

This breakout song from Of Monsters and Men is transformed into a lovely little melody by Julia and Jon. A pleasant contrast to the original track’s busy instrumentals, Julia and Jon use only their voices and a guitar, adding a little simplicity to your early hours.

“Umbrella” by Biffy Clyro

Can you ever go wrong with Rihanna? The answer is no, and Biffy Clyro proves just that with his cover of “Umbrella.” His understated version can be played to drastically improve any morning, rain or shine.

“Unwritten” by Boyce Avenue feat. Diamondwhite

Proving that some songs never go out of style, Boyce Avenue and Diamondwhite reinvent this classic hit from Natasha Bedingfield. The result? An effortless track with an empowering message.
