Healthy Snacks To Eat At Work

The huge gap between breakfast and lunch can feel like forever. The sound of your tummy grumbling in the office is not uncommon. We all need snacks between meals and it can be hard to go the healthy route when the vending machine is both tempting and easy. Believe it or not, there are great snacks to enjoy at your desk that are just as easy and delicious as high calorie treats calling your name from the break room.

Ants On A Log

This tasty treat combines three health snacks in one; celery, peanut butter and raisins. You simply spread the peanut butter in the hollow of the celery and sprinkle raisins on top. It’s that easy! You can even get a little creative by replacing the peanut butter with reduced-fat cream cheese and using any dried cranberries or cherries instead of raisins.

Popcorn

Low-calorie, low fat and hold the heavy salt and melted butter. If it’s a little too bland for you, there are ways to jazz up your popcorn and still keep it healthy. Pizza popcorn? Yes please!

Fresh Fruit

If you have a sweet tooth, fresh fruit is the way to go. Fruit is naturally sweet so you can get your sugar fix the right way. Snacking on an apple, banana or strawberries will be both convenient and yummy. You can dip your apples in peanut butter as a bonus snack to switch it up. Also, blending it with veggies, yogurt and other awesome smoothie ingredients will also keep you full and satisfy your sugar fix.

Cereal

Load up a sandwich bag or container with your favorite cereal and snack on it at your desk just like that. Now, we’re not talking sugary cereals with marshmallows and frosting. Choose your cereal wisely and think about loading up on fiber and protein.

There are quite a few to choose from.

Rice Cakes

Rice cakes come in many different flavors to satisfy either salty or sweet cravings. They have high fiber since they are made from brown rice and contain no fat and are low in calories. This is yet another snack that you can spread a little peanut butter on to make it taste even better.

When thinking about being healthy, remember that our bodies need fuel. If your tummy is growling at your desk just before lunch, eat, just be conscious of what you snack on!
