Every month, the Pink & Black team is asked to share their response to one question.
To celebrate five years of Pink & Black, this month they were asked to share one of their favorite posts on our website! Here’s what some of them had to say:
7 Things Your 20s are For Besides Work & Boys by Liz Furl – I thought this post was open, honest, fun and real.
It found myself shaking my head in agreement or laughing through the whole story. The style was conversational and written in a way almost all women in their early 20s can relate to. I even made a point to comment on the story to let Liz know how much I enjoyed it.– Rebecca Walter
5 Worth-It Subscription Services by Ali Razzi – I would be lying if I said I’ve only read this article once. I recently have become rather obsessed with “beauty boxes.” After subscribing to both Birchbox and Ipsy and being extremely satisfied with both, I find myself wanting more. I will revisit this article every once in awhile when I’m looking into subscribing to yet another “beauty box.”

5 Things It’s OK To Grow Out Of by Danielle Ma – Everything Danielle writes is somehow both unique and universal, but it felt like she was writing this one in particular to me. The positive reinforcement in this article that change is good and necessary and doesn’t make you an old cat lady took a weight off my heart that I didn’t even know was there. This is what really hit home – “But the reality is that it’s possible to fall out of love and still love a person. We’re allowed to feel that way. While moving on might seem like the hardest, most gut-wrenching decision, it’s healthier in the long run to know ourselves and know what we deserve.” A simple yet complex truth that haunts and comforts me at the same time.

Leslie Knope: The Best Kind Of Feminist by Alexis Teevens – An article that talks about feminism in a real, relatable and easily digestible way. I admire Alexis for writing this in a way that makes young women unafraid to click and read on because feminism can be a damn intimidating thing if you don’t know much about it—or even if you do. I’m a passionate feminist, but I find it hard to write explicitly about feminism because I have an inclination to be overly academic, which usually isn’t the way to do the most good. I love that this article exists on a beautifully feminine website, that it relates back to pop culture and that it’s written just perfectly unpretentiously.

5 Areas Women Need More Confidence In by Emily Fox – This was amazing to me because we have a Women’s Empowerment Group and we talk about women and our lack of confidence and how it really holds us back and I think we need more awareness because I don’t think a lot of us even realize that we lack this confidence and how it can really keep us from getting something that we want or achieving a goal we have in mind. A lot of times, in a professional world, the more confident one will get chosen over the more knowledgeable one. Imagine being knowledgeable and confident! Powerhouse!
