20 Questions With Olivia Of Olivia Adams PR

This year we’re be chatting with some of our favorite bloggers, web personalities, career-women and maybe even you in a series is called 20 Questions.

It’s exactly what it sounds like. We compile 20 questions―some random, some not―and get to know some truly inspiring people.

This time we met up with Olivia Adams from Olivia Adams PR. Read what she has to say about PR, beauty and work.

What’s your PR philosophy?
At the end of the day, public relations is all about the relationships you build with others. Essentially, it’s about building a strong community surrounding an idea and inspiring others to believe in that idea.

I also believe public relations is the truth told well. Whenever you create a PR strategy for a brand or client, you need to be intentional with your goals and tactics. Think about the impact you want to make on others before thinking about the impact on your bottom line. By pinpointing what will engage people with your strategy, you’ll be much more successful in accomplishing your goals.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received or heard?
The best career advice I’ve received seems really simple, but was hard for me to follow. Basically, it’s to be patient in your career. As a go-getter, I often expect myself to accomplish my goals overnight and make big things happen in my life as soon as possible. However, when you leave college and start your career, you truly need to be patient, live in the moment, and spend time exploring what you’re passionate about.

Now, this advice becomes hard to follow when you’re stuck in a job you don’t enjoy or you’re dreaming of the moment when you can start your own gig. I can honestly tell you that being patient will be the best thing for your career because the right opportunity will come at the right time and you will be less hard on yourself for taking the time needed to follow your dreams.

What was the last movie you watched in the theater?
Haha… The Duff! It was actually quite cute.

What song instantly puts you in a great mood?
I’d have to say “Little Secrets” by Passion Pit. Whenever I hear the song, it makes me want to drop everything and dance.

What do you never leave home without?
A positive attitude!

What’s your go-to coffee order?
Depends where I am. But when it doubt, I’ll go for a mocha or vanilla latte.

What’s one of your biggest fears?
Never reaching my potential.

What was your first adult purchase?
A car!! (I bought one just a few weeks ago!)

What’s a beauty product you swear by?
Too Faced eye shadow. My sister gave me some for Christmas and it is the BEST eye shadow I have ever used in my life. Definitely worth the investment!

What’s your favorite flower?
Peonies. My grandmother used to grow peonies of all types in her garden and even created a hybrid, which was named The Olivia Peony.

What’s one thing you’ve accomplished this week?
That’s a tough one, since it’s been such a productive week! Actually…on Monday, I ran five miles under 50 minutes! I felt very proud of myself.

What’s a major turn-off in a guy?
A man who isn’t self-sufficient.

What was your high school mascot?
Big Red the Cardinal!

What’s included in your workout routine?
I typically run three to four miles about four times per week. Since I’ve been training for a half marathon, I also have long runs on the weekend.

What are your must-have desk essentials?
A journal or notepad. I’m an avid list-maker, so lots of pretty paper is a must.

Do you have any pets?
Yes! A beautiful black lab named Molly.

What are you most looking forward to this spring?
Wearing dresses every day to work and going to the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings.

What are your tips for taking the perfect Instagram pic?
I swear by the VSCO photo editing app. I also think it’s important to take advantage of natural lighting and avoid zooming in on your photos.

What’s a city you love visiting?
Well, I actually moved to the city I love visiting, which is Grand Rapids, MI. But I also love visiting Ludington, which is a small town on the coast of Lake Michigan.

What’s one thing you’re looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to the upcoming spring and summer months. I’m working on a few projects for my blog as well as some writing projects, so I hope to get things going once everything slows down!

Catch up with Olivia!
