The cat eye is a timeless look that has been loved for decades thanks to its versatility, sex appeal and ease. Made iconic in the ’60s thanks to stars like Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor, the cat eye has since evolved to become a staple in modern day beauty and fashion.
While the winged-tip style is most notorious paired with a red lip, there are subtler ways to rock this look sans the drama. Read below for our take on wearing a cat eye during the day time.

Apply face makeup as you would normally. Leave the eye area and brows untouched for best results of this tutorial.
Step 1: Apply concealer around the whole eye and under bottom lashes to reduce dark circles. Blend well.
Step 2: Using the eye shadow brush, apply medium brown eye shadow in and along the crease of the eyelid. Begin at the outer edge, applying less shadow gradually as you near the tear-duct. Apply shadow along bottom lash line lightly.
Step 3: Lightly fill in eyebrows using an eyebrow pencil. Focus on filling in the sparse areas, instead of drawing thick lines or outlining. Lightly brush eye shadow over your brows for a finished look.
Step 4: Apply eye liner along the upper lash line beginning at the outer corner and continue until just before the center of your lash line.
To achieve the subtle cat eye, begin only a few centimeters away from the eye. It is easiest to pull the eye taut at the outer corner, then continue to layer liner until you’ve reached the desired thickness.Step 5: Curl eye lashes and apply light mascara to finish the look. On bottom lashes, let the mascara wand just barely touch the skin for bottom lash definition without the eyeliner.
