As school picks back up it’s hard to get outdoors as much as we would like, much less maintain a natural tan.
We never want to let go of summer and the tan that comes along with it, so why not extend the time you have with your sun-kissed skin a bit longer?
If self tanners freak you out, start with a light bronzer for your cheeks. Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer is great for a natural-looking glow.
It has no glitter or shine and finishes with a matte appearance. This bronzer blends with any skin tone, so begin by applying a light layer to your cheekbones with a bronzer or blush brush. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before applying more as needed. If you do want to try your hand at a self tanner, opt for a gradual bronzer. Lotions work great because you rub them in evenly, while making sure you hit every little area. A gradual tanner allows you to have more control over your color. If one shade suits you, then maybe you apply every three days or as needed. Manual self tanners require a bit of playing around. For natural looking skin, especially on your hands, knees and elbows, apply lotion. Use a thin layer all over and a heavier coat between your fingers and anywhere else skin tends to be dry.
Prior to self tanning, cleanse and exfoliate everywhere. Wash your face with an exfoliation scrub, and use a loofah or washcloth to scrub your body. You want to remove any impurities and dead skin before self tanning to ensure even coverage and longer lasting color.
God forbid you turn Oompa Loompa orange, but if so, no need to fret. Use facial toner or even toothpaste on patchy areas to remove self tanner. Re-exfoliate that area before reapplying and use more or less as needed.
Now go get your glow on.
