P&B Shares: The Women We’re Thankful For This Year

Every month, the Pink & Black team is asked to share their response to one question.

This month, they were asked to share a famous woman they’re thankful for this year and explain why. Here’s what some of them had to say.

Taylor Swift. Seeing someone roughly my age continue to make positive changes in life is inspiring.

Stagnation is terrible. In her newest album, she documents her mistakes and risks, which are an important part of life. Celebrity relationships aside, she just makes such easily relatable material.
- Will Rhino

Lupita Nyong’o has come onto the scene the past year and has blown everyone, including myself, away. She has such grace, poise and talent and still manages to seem down to earth. Her performance in 12 Years a Slave was powerful and her Oscar speech earlier this year brought me to tears. I can’t wait to see her in future projects (especially Star Wars).
- Rebecca Walter

Jennifer Lawrence. I admire that J Law has the confidence to continue being her quirky, amusing self even in the spotlight of Hollywood. She has been a breath of fresh air and proves that women can be incredibly successful without losing a sense of who they are… even if that’s goofy, clumsy and outspoken.
- Ali Hutzler

Lauren Conrad. This seems to be my go to response on a lot of things but she is such an inspiration it’s hard to pass up the opportunity to brag in her honor. Lauren has done so much and has used her fame for good. In the past few years alone she has launched two successful clothing lines, written several New York Times best selling books and now, in the past year, she started The Little Market. The Little Market works with women artisans around the world connecting them to this online marketplace to they can rise above poverty and help to support their families. All items sold are handmade, unique and one of a kind.
