Workout Options For Girls Who Hate Working Out

Does the mere thought of the gym make you sweat? Do you shudder when you hear someone say “I just had the best workout!”? Does sitting on the couch watching Netflix sound more appealing to you than doing crunches until you have the abs of your dreams? If you answered yes to all three questions, then we’ve got the perfect workouts for you.

Dance It Off

You may despise cardio, but who doesn’t love dancing? Zumba is a perfect combination of high and low-intensity dance moves to thumping Latin and World music that gets your heart pumping and your feet moving, all while feeling like you’re in one big party! You get muscle conditioning, balance skills, increased flexibility and great stress-relief while burning up to 1,000 calories per session. Grab a few of your girlfriends and join a class for some laughs and serious fat burning.

Play A Sport

Pick a sport and join a team! Making a commitment to joining something makes you accountable to your teammates, which will make it harder to skip exercising. Plus, you’ll be so focused on the competition and having fun with your teammates that you’ll forget that you’re actually exercising. Check out our article on team sports for some suggestions and to see which muscles they target!

Can You Say Namaste?

Yoga is a calming, yet very beneficial form of exercise. Flexibility, weight management and cardiovascular conditioning are just a few of the many benefits of yoga. Find a studio in your neighborhood and sign up for a few classes to see if you like it. Not only will you be working out, but you’ll also be de-stressing, and the flexibility of most yoga class schedules will let you take it when you’d like: either in the morning, in the evening after work or during the day.

Sneak Exercise In

If you hate exercise because you don’t have time to fit a workout into your busy schedule, you can still sneak exercise into your daily routine! Make stairs your best friend. Even taking just 6 flights of stairs, only 72 steps, three times a day can burn 90 calories (or check out this chart to see how many you’re burning). Park your car further away than you normally would, or even do balancing exercises such as balancing on one leg while you brush your teeth or blow dry your hair. Or, if you take a study break, blast music and dance around wildly to help you refocus and burn some fat. By working little exercises into your daily routine, you’ll be able to burn extra calories without even thinking about the gym.
