Though she has been on the scene since 2011, in 2014 Foxes is starting to make a name for herself in mainstream music and that’s not without a lot of effort and hard work.
In that time she has had a song that was featured on “Gossip Girl,” she’s worked with Fall Out Boy and she released an EP “Warrior.
” At this year’s Grammy Awards she won her first Grammy for the song “Clarity” (which she is featured on) for Best Dance Recording. The song peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the US ot Dance Club Songs. After some time of working with other artists she is ready to get out on her own.
“I don’t want to be that ‘featured’ artist,” Foxes told Billboard, “because I also have my music that’s my baby, and at the end of the day, that’s the most important thing to me.”
Now her first long anticipated studio album will be released on May 9. The album, “Glorious” was originally supposed to be released in February but was pushed back. Two singles have been released so far. “Youth” was released in September and “Let Go for Tonight” was released in February. Her third single, “Holding Onto Heaven,” was released for free on iTunes in December.
The singer is currently in a tour throughout England, Scotland and Ireland.
Originally from South Hampton, the musician moved to London when she was 18 to attend Music College. Foxes, whose real name is Louisa Rose Allen, decided on her stage name from a dream her mother told her about.
It’s hard to resist any song she releases, as her hauntingly beautiful voice is addictive.
Although all her singles are great and highly recommended, I can’t help but love another song of hers, “Beauty Queen.” It’s about being yourself and not comparing yourself to others, which is a great message to send to the youth today, perhaps one we don’t see enough in the media. As for her singles, the one that stands out the most to me is the track “Youth.” The song tells the truthful tale about what it’s like to grow up and when you are “grown up” how you don’t feel that way and don’t necessarily want to feel that way at all.
What’s great about Foxes music is that it is definitely the electronic pop that you would hear at a club. But, instead of the same beat repeated again and again in your ears you actually get a melody and lyrics that might actually mean a lot to the people that frequent clubs.
Foxes is taking a new, refreshing look at pop music by making it all her own. If you haven’t yet already, it’s time to check her out.
