They tell great stories of history and provide scenes of dreamlike beauty that beg to be seen. Here are just a few of the places around the globe that you may not have heard of but definitely deserve to be considered for your next traveling adventure.Arles, France
Located on the southern coast of France, Arles (pictured above) is a city rich with history dating back thousands of years. The city has such awe-inspiring beauty that when painter Vincent Van Gogh lived there from 1888-89 he produced more than 300 paintings. There are Roman monuments throughout the city making visitors feel like they have taken a step back in time.
Things to do:
• Check out Museon Arlaten (Arles Folk Museum). The museum offers cheap admission and allows visitors to get a feel for the rich traditions that give life to Arles.
• Find Van Gogh’s easels. There are 12 concrete easels in various spots throughout the city where Van Gogh completed his works. Those interested have the option of purchasing a map to find the locations or set out to find the hidden gems for themselves.
• The Roman Arena is a must-see that takes visitors back 2,000 years to a time of bullfighting and ancient games. The arena offers a discount for students and represents a large part of the city’s history.
Pai, Thailand
Once a small, quiet village, Pai is slowly growing into an up and coming area to explore. Pai has been inhabited for more than 5,000 years and has a story to tell to those who visit. Poland has long moved on from its dark past and now the city is a marvel to visit due to its abundant history and Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture.

Darwin, Australia
