P&B’s Summer Music Guide 2015

Summer is here… finally!

In addition to the amazing weather and no school, this is also a great time for music. New albums are coming, our favorite artists are going on tour and the festivals will be here before you know it!  Here is your complete summer music guide.

Albums

Cody Simpson, the cutie from down under, is releasing his new album, Free, on June 23. Since this album is his first as an independent artist, the title represents just that.

Jason Derulo is no stranger to hit music. Everything he touches turns to gold and his new single, “Want To Want Me” from his upcoming album, Everything is 4, is no different. We cannot wait until June 2 to hear the whole album.

American Idol alum Adam Lambert is now signed to Warner Bros. and his new album The Original High will be his first under this label. We’ll have to wait until June 16th to take a listen, but we have high expectations because he worked with Tove Lo on one of the tracks. We are a fan of both artists so this should be good.

The third album from the amazing Florence + The Machine, titled How Big How Blue How Beautiful is set to be released in the states on June 1. You don’t have to wait too long to hear a sample though. Singles “What Kind of Man” and “Ship to Wreck” are available on Spotify and iTunes now. You can also check out their live performance on Saturday Night Live.

Remember The Killers? Well the lead singer and principal writer Brandon Flowers has gone solo. His album, The Desired Effect, was already released on May 19 and is topping the charts in the UK. It has a fun ’80s appeal, which makes it the perfect jam for cruising around with your windows down.

Tours

Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour kicked off last month and will go all the way until December. Taylor surely is a hard worker. This album is a huge hit so the tour surely will not disappoint.

Want to see the heartthrobs of 5 Seconds of Summer live and in person? Starting July 17, you can. You’ll get more than 5 seconds of summer with this show, more like an hour and a half.

Miss Ed Sheeran his last go around the states? The good news is, he announced more tour dates for this summer. Do not miss your chance to hear his angelic voice up close and personal.

Ariana Grande started her tour in May. The tour will spill over into the fall with shows scheduled into mid-October. She has one of those iconic voices that you just have to hear live. Don’t miss out!

What would be the best way to say “farewell” to your fans? A farewell tour of course! Especially since they haven’t seen you perform live in over 10 years! This is exactly what Shania Twain is doing. “I want to go out with a bang,” said Shania on Good Morning America. Her tour will also go until October. This could be your last chance to see this country icon perform live.

Festivals

Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar, Florence + The Machine and about 147 more performances all in one weekend pretty much sums up how awesome Bonnaroo is. The weekend kicks off June 11 and goes until June 14. Tickets are a few hundred dollars, but they are very much worth the cost. Camping and great music at the amazing Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee? Sign us up!

How about a music festival that comes to you? Warped Tour is more like a traveling music festival featuring a long list of punk rock bands hosted by the popular shoe company, Vans. Many artists have gotten their start here: Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, New Found Glory, Katy Perry and Good Charlotte, just to name a few. You might see the next big thing here before they get cool.

Chicago hosts one of the biggest and best music festivals, Lollapalooza. This festival has several big names artists: Sam Smith, The Weeknd, Paul McCartney, Metaliica, Kid Cudi, Tyler, The Creator, A$AP Rocky, Charli XCX and many others. Just clear your schedule from July 31 to August 2 and trot over to Chicago. You will not be disappointed.
