4 Detox Water Recipes & Their Benefits

Detox waters are pretty, tasty and good for you.

They have the benefits of drinking regular water plus they help your liver in the detoxification process. Your liver flushes out toxins, such as pesticides, waste produced by your cells, viruses, bacteria, chemicals and prescription medication.

 If these toxins build up, they can be harmful to your body and cause headaches, nausea and even death.

By drinking detox waters on a regular basis, you’re helping your body flush out harmful toxins more quickly. Below are four detox waters you can try.

  • Lemon
  • Watermelon & Mint

  • Lemon Water
    • 8 oz. glass warm filtered water
    • ½ freshly squeezed lemon

    Directions

    Add lemon to a glass of water.

    Benefits

    This is the most basic detox drink there is and one of the most effective. Lemon juice contains an acid similar to the juices naturally produced by the stomach. Drinking lemon juice will improve digestive tract movement, lessening your chances of getting indigestion, bloating and heartburn. It is also a natural diuretic, which reduces the risk of bacteria building up in your body. Finally, the lemon increases bile production and prevents any excess liquid from damaging your digestive tract.Tab 1 Content


  • Watermelon & Mint Water
    • 2 cups watermelon, cubed
    • 1 lime, cut into wedges
    • 10-13 fresh mint leaves
    • 1-2 liters of water
    • Ice cubes

    Directions

    Place the watermelon, rind and all, lime and mint leaves in a large pitcher. Pour the water on top. Refrigerate and let sit overnight to allow the flavors to infuse. 

    Benefits

    Watermelon helps flush out toxins because it contains citrulline, an amino acid that aids the liver and kidneys in getting rid of ammonia. Watermelon also gives the liver a boost. Lime juice stimulates and regulates the digestive tract. Like lemon juice, lime juice and mint are good for bile—they help it move along.   • Apple Cinnamon Water
    • 1 Fuji apple, sliced
    • 1 cinnamon stick or 1 tsp. cinnamon powder
    • 1 lemon (keeps the apples fresher)
    • 1-2 liters of water
    • Ice cubes

    Directions

    Mix the apple, a squeeze of lemon juice and a cinnamon stick or a teaspoon or cinnamon powder together. Cover with ice and fill the pitcher up to the top with water. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.

    Benefits

    Apples add a natural source of vitamins and minerals while the cinnamon helps stimulate the internal organs to cleanse themselves.Tab 3 Content


  • Fat Burning Detox Water
    • 1 strawberry
    • ½ small cucumber
    • ¼ grapefruit
    • Ice water

    Directions

    Slice the strawberry, cucumber and grapefruit and toss in a pitcher. Fill the pitcher with ice water and refrigerate overnight.

    Benefits

    Strawberries contain anthocyanins, which stimulates the burning of fat stores. Cucumbers contains citrulline, just like watermelons. The fiber found in cucumbers helps remove toxins. In addition, cucumbers prevent water retention and have many anti-inflammatory properties. Grapefruit’s AMKP enzyme absorbs starches and sugars (aka burns fat).
