From the Editor: Fresh Start

Loyal readers,

I can’t believe August is already here!

This time last year I was preparing to start my last semester of college. This year, I’m starting my fourth month at my first full-time job. It’s so crazy to think about how different my life is this year. I went from worrying about finals and my grade point average (and finding a job, let’s be honest), and now I’m more concerned with deadlines, bills and starting fresh in this new chapter of my life.

I always loved the “back to school” time of year because I always felt the desire to reinvent myself. I would get in the mindset of “this is my year” before each year started. I thought about what I wanted to get out of the year (and semester) and what I hoped to accomplish before it even started. I bought some fun new things–what’s “back to school” if you don’t get a new look or two?– and organized my space (dorm or apartment, depending on the year). I mentally prepared myself for my classes and got probably too excited to get back into the courses of my major (nerd alert…).

Even now what I love about this time of the year is the viewpoint that everyone else had about it too. You get back to school/campus, see the people you haven’t seen in weeks, and everyone is recharged and ready to start the new year out bigger and better than the year before.

Whether you’re heading back to campus this month or just looking for a reason to start again, we hope you set yourself up for success. Treat yourself to a new hairstyle, a mental makeover and a nice lipstick and you’ve got nothing to lose.

What do you love about this time of year?

P.S. -

Our annual Back to Campus week starts Aug. 11 with some fun tips. Don’t miss out!
