If Jess can do it on New Girl then so can you.
Having a platonic, male friend you can count on or a “bro” as they would call it, is something essential in every girl’s life. When you’re in college, most campuses are generally against co-ed roommates, but nowadays it seems as though many postgraduates and young adults choose to live with someone of the opposite sex.
As long as the communication is clear and a line is drawn about being strictly just friends, having a guy as a roommate has its benefits.Things Don’t Get So Easily Mixed Up
It may sound silly, but it’s the truth. When multiple girls live together in an apartment or house, clothes, skincare and makeup products start to mix together. Chances are you won’t confuse your pair of undies for your roommate’s briefs or boxers when you’re scrambling to look for clothes in your laundry room.
There Will Be Variety In The Décor
Maybe you’re lucky and you and your roommate have the same taste. However, if they are vastly different, it will be interesting to see the blend of décor that will be in your apartment or house. For example, you may like florals and pastels while he may want everything to be sports-related, or vice versa.
They’ve Got Your Back When You’re Out
Say you’re having a roommates’ night out at a bar. Some random guy walks up to you and won’t stop hitting on you or pestering you despite your disinterest. He may have to muster out his best performance as your “boyfriend,” but it’s reassuring to have a male friend who can help you out when the club creepers come out.
You Get A Guy’s Perspective
Having boy trouble or relationship issues? When you live with a guy friend, they obviously have firsthand experience of what it’s like to be one and what goes on up there in their heads. They most likely have gone through similar experiences and they’ll probably have relationship problems as well. You can help them out too and exchange tips.
It Prepares You For Future Living Situations
If you’re not already in a living-together relationship, at some point you will live with your significant other or your spouse. Living with a close male friend now will give you a sense of what living with a guy will be like down the road.
