Year In Review: Top 10 Celebrity Newbies

This year was an amazing time for young actors, pop stars and even reality stars. There is so much new talent and we are listing our top 10 celebs who have left not only an impression on us but America as well.

Jhene Aiko
Jhene has been performing since the early 2000’s but it was not until late 2013, early 2014 that she became a household name.

Her album Souled Out earned her a nomination for the 2015 Grammy’s. Her track “The Worst,” which was written and performed by Jhene herself, from her 2013 album Sail Out was a billboard hit. She writes her own music and sounds just as amazing in the studio as she does live. She is definitely an artist to get familiar with.

Theo James
You cannot forget a face like Theo’s. This heartthrob starred in the very popular movie adaptation of Divergent and it’s only been uphill from there. He has numerous movies now in post-production and it was announced that he will be starring in Underworld: Next Generation. We have seen him previous to 2014 but this year was the year he truly shined!

Sam Smith
This 22 year-old caught our attention with his first single “Stay With Me” from his debut album, The Lonely Hour. The critics listed this ballad as one of the “10 Best Songs of 2014 So Far” this past July. He is right behind Queen Bey, leading the pack in Grammy nods for 2015. Sam has come over from the UK and has completely took over and we are not complaining one bit!

Candice Patton
CW premiered it’s new hit show The Flash this fall and ratings could not be better. The series premiere was the second most watched debut in CW history. We are loving the show and also loving the character, Iris West, who is the apple of our super hero’s eye and played by Candice Patton. She has appeared in many shows she has guest starred in, but this is her first permanent role.

Meghan Trainor
Our breakout artists are taking over the Grammy’s as we have another starlet who is nominated for her Billboard chart topping song, “All About That Bass”. She delivered amazing performances on both Dancing with the Stars and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade last month and we can’t help but love her message. She’s all about positivity and loving yourself no matter what, which is exactly the kind of message we need to hear.

Ansel Elgort
Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars were two very huge films that starred this new star who we can’t help but adore. He had his very own GQ Men of the Year cover just in his first year of popularity! That was quite fast and we don’t mind it one bit.

Emily Ratajkowski
From the “Blurred Linesmusic video to Gone Girl, this model has risen to the top. Right after Gone Girl premiered, Cosmopolitan hit the stands with her face on the cover. Not to mention she had her very own GQ cover and was named Esquire’s first Woman of the Year. She is more than just beauty, she has talent and that is why she had an amazing 2014.

Gina Rodriguez
The CW’s new critically acclaimed show, Jane the Virgin, stars this breakout star and gives the CW it’s best Monday night ratings since 2012. With the many rom-com television shows being cancelled and sold to Hulu this fall, Gina should extremely be thrilled that her show not only survived but is a hit. She has also proven to be quite the role model with her many efforts to promote confidence and girl power.

Tove Lo
Now opening for Katy Perry on the Prismatic Tour, this chart topping singer has a long future ahead of her and it all started in 2014. Her song “Habits”, was predicted by Billboard to be a success and they were not wrong at all. We love this jam and cannot wait to see what else she has to offer us.

Stassi Schroeder
Reality stars are celebrities too, right? We first met Stassi in 2005, when her and her family were contestants on The Amazing Race, we then saw her in 2008, on The N’s reality show, Queen Bees, but it wasn’t until we fell in love with her on Vanderpump Rules that she really blossomed into a starlet! She now has a website dedicated to her personal style, her opinions about fashion and her new line of statement necklaces. Also, judging by her amazing job styling Lisa Vanderpump for her magazine cover, it looks like celebrity stylist will be the next job to add to her resume.
