Trend Report: Blush

It’s girly, it’s classy and it’s been seen all over outfits this winter. What is it? Blush!

The rosy hue is a great way to brighten up your wardrobe and work some delicate color into your personal style. Follow our guidelines to work the beautiful shade into your outfits.

Make it your statement piece

Find one great piece in blush—such as a pair of pants, a skirt, a scarf or a coat—and make it the center of your outfit. Keep everything else neutral. Lighter neutrals, such as gray, beige and white, don’t overpower the blush statement piece. Instead, they help the blush color really shine.

Go girly

Blush’s warm color is the perfect start for a Barbie-worthy outfit. Pick out soft feminine pieces, like this skirt, and pair them with cozy knits, bows and pretty jewelry. Don’t be afraid to make your whole outfit pink. As long as you keep all of the pieces the same girly shade, you’ll feel like a princess in no time!

Or toughen up

Is being a girly-girl not your thing? Take the opposite route and use a blush outfit item as the base for a girly-grunge look. Black pants or skirts, biker boots and a tough jacket will tone down the ballerina feeling that blush pieces can have. Throw on some funky jewelry and you will be good to go.

Dress it up

Blush can make you feel like the belle of the ball. A pretty pink dress with matching shoes and a coordinating handbag can look chic and elegant, especially in such a light shade. Be sure to keep your jewelry, makeup and hair mature though, so you don’t look like you got lost on the way to somebody’s fifth birthday party.

Mix patterns

You know the essential rule to mixing patterns and prints: keep them in the same color family. Well, if you choose clothes with the same blush tone, you’ll be all set. Try wearing a thick striped shirt tucked into a floral skirt, or polka dotted pants with a plaid blouse. The combinations are as adorable as they are endless.

Paint your nails

Pastel polish isn’t just for spring anymore. You’re always on trend when you paint your nails this hue, even if you don’t wear any blush-colored clothing. The best part? The tone is so subtle that your nails won’t clash with anything!

Accessorize

You can still work the color into your wardrobe by wearing blush accessories. Rose gold and blush straps look darling on a watch or you can wear a soft pink statement necklace to bring some color into your work clothes. Even a subtle pendant like this one can help delicately draw in some blush without being too overwhelming.
