10 Qualities Of Successful 20-Somethings

There are some people that just seem to attract success.

People are drawn to them, they love what they do, and endless opportunities have led to a great career in just a few short years. How do they do it? We’ve figured out the ten qualities that successful 20-somethings possess that make them stand out from their peers.

They’re willing to try new things.

You never know until you try, right? Successful 20-somethings realize that they are new to their careers and “grown up” life, and therefore aren’t afraid to try new things. They say yes to new projects, meeting new people, and even trying new restaurants or activities during their downtime. This provides fresh inspiration and new connections.

They aren’t afraid to ask questions.

Being successful is not the same as knowing everything. Successful millennials ask questions, so that they’re able to do the best job possible. They also know which questions to ask. They’re specific, and try to see what problems may arise in the future. They aren’t afraid to reach out to new people to ask these questions either.

They take risks.

Chasing after dreams can be scary, but taking risks is necessary to achieve big things. Successful people, especially successful young people, know this. By taking risks, they open themselves up to new opportunities and experiences, which inevitably helps open new doors and propel them along their paths. Though sometimes the risks may not be fruitful, successful 20-somethings know that it is better to try and fail than to never try at all.

They learn from their failures.

Making mistakes and failing are part of life. Successful people realize this, and take their failures in stride. When they don’t get an offer for their dream job, or they make a mistake at work, they don’t panic. They sit back and take a few deep breaths. They try to figure out what they can learn from the experience, and then take those lessons and keep moving forward.

They have a good attitude.

Entry-level jobs aren’t always fun, but successful millennials realize their worth, and do every task with a smile. They put as much effort into sorting the mail as they do with their first big project. Working with a good attitude will make even the smallest, most menial assignment feel fun. Plus, bosses and other superiors definitely notice. The extra effort they put in can help them become the go-to choice the next time a promotion is available.

They’re smart with their money.

Being smart with money doesn’t necessarily mean saving every extra penny, but using it wisely is important. Saving and investing money now means that there will be more to use later. Successful 20-somethings take advantage of this knowledge. They budget their spending and put money into savings or investments, but they know when it’s okay to splurge on themselves as well!

They never stop learning.

Just because they’ve finished college doesn’t mean they are finished studying. Successful people are always looking for new ways to become more successful, whether it’s reading a new book, taking a class, attending seminars, or just talking to and learning from superiors in their fields. Constantly learning helps keep their minds fresh and motivated and up-to-date on new information.

They find a mentor.

Smart millennials realize the importance of mentors, and actively try to create and maintain those connections. Mentors can help mentees build confidence, network with a wide range of professionals, and continue to grow. They can even become friends, too.

They aren’t jealous.

Successful 20-somethings know that they are successful, and want their peers to become successful too. They realize that it is OK to be happy for other people! By boosting others up (instead of tearing them down in competition), they are able to create a positive support network.

They set a timeline—and stick to it.

A big part of becoming successful is knowing what you want, and then going after it. Successful millennials set goals, and then make a timeline for when they want those goals achieved. Then, they work hard to make those goals happen in that time frame. They’re realistic though—no one is expecting them to become CEOs by 25, but they do make moves to get at least one big promotion before then.
