Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean all have the fun and games from when you were a kid has to end.
When we were children, the games we played with our classmates during recess was a way for us to escape from the classroom and schoolwork. As we grow older and have to begin thinking about ways to stay fit and active, we’re continually trying to find different workout routines that aren’t mundane or boring.
Here are five activities from your childhood to creatively incorporate into your workouts. Feeling nostalgic yet?
Jump Roping
“Cinderella dressed in yellow, went upstairs to kiss a fellow, made a mistake and kissed a snake, came downstairs with a bellyache. How many doctors did it take?” Sound familiar? That’s just one of the many jump rope rhymes you probably heard when you were younger to see how long you would last. Though you probably won’t be singing it now (unless you want to), you can still use a jump rope to workout your legs and body the next time you hit the gym.
Hula Hooping
The usually innocent game to see how long you can keep the hoop spinning on your body can also be a vigorous workout for your stomach and abs.
Hopscotch
Buy some chalk and find some empty pavement and it’s game on. Instead of racing someone through the numbered squares, enjoy hopscotch as a way to workout your legs.
Monkey Bars
Once a playground favorite to see who could race to the other end, monkey bars can still be used in your workout. They’re great for pull ups and cardio.
Biking
Consistently biking is a way for you to keep your whole body healthy, especially if you use it as a common mode of transportation.
Though biking is a timeless activity for any age, our love for it generally begins at a young age with training wheels.Feature Photo via
