There’s no doubt that women have been kicking ass and taking names this year. From musicians to actresses and even political leaders, women continue to use their voices to stand up and prove how our gender matters. When Taylor Swift Wrote A Letter To Apple
When Apple Music announced its plan to do a three-month free trial for listeners, it caught everyone’s attention. In June, Swift stood up against the mega music company to say that she would discontinue the release of her 1989 album on Apple Music as well as platforms such as Spotify in order to support independent and new artists who wouldn’t be getting paid for the music during that free trial period.
When Zendaya Called Out A Woman-Shaming Twitter Account
When Twitter account @Manstagram posted an update directed toward beauty blogger Shannon without any makeup on saying “This is why your date is running one hour late,” Zendaya, the 18-year-old actress and singer shut him down with a quick comeback by saying “that awkward moment when this tweet is irrelevant ‘cause she’s slaying both ways #wannaborrowmyglasses.” Shannon tweeted back to Zendaya saying “Women who stick up for women. Thank you @Zendaya and everyone else <3. i love you.”
Anytime Amy Schumer Did Anything
This year, Amy Schumer proved that there is a place for women in stand up comedy. During Award Shows
From Patricia Arquette’s speech about equal pay for women to Viola Davis’s SAG speech about lack of diversity in films to Amy Poehler and Tina Fey disproving ageism in Hollywood as the hosts of the Golden Globes, women have passionately addressed a variety of important issues this year.

The landmark Obergefell v. Hodges decision legalized same-sex marriage for everyone thus proving that love wins. The ruling wouldn’t have passed if it weren’t for the contributions made by Supreme Court female justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg (who many have penned the nickname the Notorious RBG on the Internet) as well as Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.
When Hillary Clinton and Carly Fiorina Announced Their Presidential Bid
While both women are from opposing political parties, one thing’s for sure—both of them are the first women to announce their presidential bid. Regardless of what the outcome will be when election time rolls around, Clinton and Fiorina have brought this country one step closer to possibly having a woman finally lead this country.
