P&B’s Guide to Fall TV

As the weather cools off and everyone’s thoughts turn to pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks, TV starts fresh once again.

Fall is the time for new TV shows to premiere and old shows to return. Here are the most promising shows this fall broken down by network.

ABC

First, and probably the best new show this fall in general, is How to Get Away with Murder. Led by Viola Davis, this law professor gets entangled with her students and the murder they get involved in.

It’s created by Shonda Rimes, and it’s bound to be an overdramatic treat.

Selfie is the other option from ABC. Starring Karen Gillan and John Cho, the duo sets out to get Karen’s character to stop trying to become internet famous via Instagram selfies. Okay, so maybe the plot is a little weak, but with a stellar leading cast and a premise very relevant to today’s society, it’s definitely worth a peek.

CBS

A ratings powerhouse, this network is sticking to a formula. It features a show called Scorpion that has a team of friends that happen to be some of the most intelligent minds in the world, who find an unlikely friendship with a local diner waitress played by Katharine McPhee. This show has some potential to be good by drama standards.

The CW

CW snatched, according to E!, the top spot for new shows this fall. The show that got that honor? It’s called The Flash, and it’s a spinoff of Arrow. The series will tell the tale of the fastest man alive. He will, of course, be fighting crime.

Fox

Because heroes are all the rage right now, FOX is adapting a show based on Batman called Gotham. According to TV Guide, it tells more of the origin stories of multiple iconic characters, as well as the Gotham City police department.

That only piques more interest. Like all other hero-based TV shows, it’s bound to be a hit.

NBC

NBC has managed to create a positive looking new comedy and drama. The comedy is called Marry Me. The plot is simple enough; it is something about not getting a proposal timed right. That doesn’t matter. It’s written by the same people from Happy Endings and stars Casey Wilson. That’s all that actually counts. #NotJoking

The drama is called State of Affairs. This show is about way more than Katherine Heigl’s return to TV. She plays a CIA agent who determines what world crises get to be dealt with, or ignored, by the president. Naturally, Katherine’s character was is also engaged to the president’s son before he was killed by terrorists. Obviously.

To make it easy, here’s the days that the shows will be premiering or returning, and here’s a weekly calendar to track what days of the week each show is on.
