For those of us who don’t have our own offices at work, we have to make the most out of the small spaces we’re given.
Whether you’re working in a company cubicle or blogging away at your home desk, it’s easy for your space to become cluttered. However, if you have a cleaner workspace, you are likely to be more productive and get tasks finished in a timely matter.
With spring just around the corner, here are some tips to help you clean and add style to your cubicle or desk.
Hide Cable Cords
From your computer to your phone charger and coffee maker, it’s hard to keep track of the tangled mess of electrical cords underneath your desk. Come up with a creative way to keep them hidden so they’re less of an eyesore.
Take Advantage of Storage Units
Avoid making piles or stacks of things around your workspace. It will add up and eventually make the space around your desk more cluttered. If you have any items on your desk that you don’t think are necessary or important but still want to keep around, get small cabinets or cute storage lockers that can fit underneath or beside your desk.
Have Boards
Be sure to get a white board and bulletin board. Sometimes you can find combination sets that already include a bulletin board for pinning important post-it notes as well as a calendar white board or regular white board for writing reminders or inspirational quotes.
Use Desk Organizers
Paper clips, staples, rubber bands and pens can easily go missing when they are sprawled out all over the desk. Use a small organizer to sort them out. You might also consider getting a paper tray to separate your important documents from your work assignments and mail so you don’t mix them up.
Pick Your Favorite Patterns & Colors
When choosing items for your space, from lamps to desk organizers and boards, or even planners, notepads and stationery, pick designs or colors that you actually like. If it’s aesthetically pleasing to you, it will motivate you to get work done faster.
Show Your Personality & Add Fun Items
Not everything on your desk has to be all business and work-related. Include something that you enjoy or makes you smile, whether it’s a picture frame of your pet or boyfriend, a vase of your favorite flowers or anything that shows who you truly are is a must.
