No discussion of winter travel is complete without skiing. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there are tons of options available to give you an adrenaline-filled vacation. Head out west to states such as Wyoming, Utah or Colorado for all the slopes and beauty you can handle. The Northeastern part of the country also provides amazing opportunities for skiing, especially Vermont and New York. Make sure to bundle up and be careful; know your limits and don’t be ashamed to take the bunny slopes.
Shopping Trips
There is never a time of year where a shopping trip isn’t called for, so grab your friends and wallet and go for it. Whether you have to travel to a big city or want to go all out and make it to the famous Mall of America in Minnesota, make it a trip to remember and score some after Christmas deals. Make it a chance to use some extra Christmas money or get some items you didn’t get on your Christmas list. While it’s never a good idea to spend more than you can or rack up credit card debt, let yourself splurge a little.

Few experiences compare to seeing New York City during the winter season. Whether you make it in time to see the lights and tree at Rockefeller Center or find yourself jammed together with a plethora of strangers in Times Square for New Years Eve, you will find the city is more alive than ever during the winter. Be sure to bundle up before you make your way to “The City that Never Sleeps,” since it is sure to be a cold journey. Stay warm walking through the city and absorbing the awe-inspiring sights that will never be dull to see, no matter the season. Take advantage of as many indoor activities as you can, such as visiting one of the numerous museums in the city.
Beach Vacations
Who says summer time gets to hog all the beach time fun? Although it may be too cold to dip your toes into many beaches, the beauty is still there and guaranteed to be a sight to perk you up from your winter gloom. Plus, it’s likely you’ll get a discounted rate at many hotels and condos since it is the off season. If the beach is further down south, it will be an excellent way to beat the bone chilling temperatures you are dealing with at home.

It is difficult to picture a more beautiful and breathtaking sight than the mountains in winter. Whether you are going skiing, hiking or just taking in the gorgeous scenery, this is a must-do winter excursion. You can give use it as a time to relax cuddled up with a book by the fire. Remember: you’re not trying out for the winter Olympics figuring skating team, so be careful.
While the winter gloom can sometimes take our desire to travel, it doesn’t have to. There are numerous ways to enjoy any season and winter provides opportunities you just don’t get in any other season. You might have to bundle up, but you don’t have to give up the exhilaration and memories travel brings.
