Ever wake up hungover, completely embarrassed and full of regret? Yeah, most of us can unfortunately say we’ve been there. Overindulging in alcohol can feel fun at the time; however, there are many things that can go horribly wrong.
Texts to Exes
Ugh! The dreaded drunk calls and texts to our former guys.
This is so common that there are smartphone apps that are designed to prevent this from happening. Drunk us does not understand these three things: we do not want to tell him we love him, we do not want to tell him we hate him and we most certainly do not want to hook up with him. Our advice, don’t drink too much! The Fourth Meal
The late night trips to the local diner or binge eating five Taco Supremes and an order of cinnamon twists can’t be healthy at all. “Drunk eating will affect your weight and contribute to weight gain in the same way eating when you aren’t intoxicated will cause you to gain weight.” Binge drinking causes weight gain all on it’s own. Studies show that people who drink less gain less weight than people who drink more. Now, add on the fast food on top of the calories consumed in the alcohol and say adios to the slim life!
Bad Decisions
According to Dr. Bruce Bartholow,”It’s not as though people do drunken things because they’re not aware of their behavior, but rather they seem to be less bothered by the implications or consequences of their behavior than they normally would be.” Going off of this theory, we know how our bad decisions could affect ourselves or others, but it doesn’t seem to matter at that time.
This can be anything from something as small as jokingly insulting a friend to something extreme as drunk driving. We’re not as careful under the influence and this is probably the most important reason to scale back on the booze. The Hangover
After an epic night of drinking, there’s a big chance we will wake up with a headache, severely dehydrated and feeling like we’re going to throw up. Hangovers are never fun and could cause you to miss class or work and it could take a full day to recover. That sounds like a lot of wasted time.
Increased Sex Drive
This increased sex drive could very well lead us to reason number three. The use of protection could be completely disregarded opening up opportunities for unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Also, there are quite a few ways alcohol negatively affects sexual performance for both men and women. So, while we may want sex more, our bodies are telling us otherwise.
We’re not saying that going out and having a good time is prohibited, but we are strongly suggesting that it needs to be done responsibly. Drunken nights can create hilarious memories, but they can create rather embarrassing moments as well and not to mention can put lives in danger. Not drinking at all would definitely be the best way to prevent this; however, knowing your limit is a huge help too.
