4 Ways to Stay Organized in College

Between classes, work, sorority, clubs, studying and a social life, college can leave little to no room for organization or a clear mind.

We’ve got you set with five ways to stay organized through all of the clutter that is college.

Keep a Planner

Not only should you purchase a planner, but you should actually use it.

As soon as you get your planner, fill it out with your classes, meetings, work schedule and anything else that you already know will happen. We suggest for each different type of event (i.e. sorority meetings/events, class, work), write or highlight them in a different color. There’s just something more eye-opening and happy about color in an agenda. Stickers are also fun to use.

Bonus Tip: Schedule “you time” regularly every day or every week. Paint your nails, do some online shopping, read blogs, cook, do whatever you do for you.

In need of a planner? We like the ones from Moleskine!

Make Lists

Odds are, you’re already doing this but we figured we would suggest it anyway because lists don’t always have to be to-do lists. Grab a pen and some list stationary and write down your priorities, regardless of what they are. Maybe you need to get your thoughts organized for the paper you’re writing, or you need to start a grocery list. Whatever the case may be, making lists can be super helpful. If you don’t want to use paper, using a list or note app on your phone will get the job done just as good.

Make Folders on Your Computer

This is huge and not everyone thinks about how important it is to keep your documents organized on your computer. At the beginning of each new semester, it’s a good idea to create a new folder for each class and even organizations you’re associated with that may require writing or document making. This is a great way to keep all of your papers and typed notes for classes organized, plus it just gets rid of the clutter your documents can easily get in and makes things easier to find.

Bonus Tip: It’s not a bad idea to combine all of the folders for one semester into a single large folder and have your documents organized by semester.

Always Keep a Clean Room

If your room is cluttered, odds are your mind is too. Even if you don’t have time to clean every single day, always tidy up before you go out the door in the morning and before you go to sleep each night.
