December Girl Crush: MacKenzie Mauzy

MacKenzie Mauzy has made it from the Broadway stage to the big screen starring as Rapunzel in the new Disney movie of the Tony-award winning Broadway musical Into the Woods.

Best known for her role as the ill-fated beauty Phoebe Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful, MacKenzie started out as a stage actress in productions of classic plays such as A Christmas Carol, Snow White and Macbeth.

From there she launched her TV career, first playing Lizzie Spaulding on the CBS soap Guiding Light for two years. She also guest starred on CBS’s CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: NY and NBCs Law & Order: SVU before joining the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful in July 2006.

After her character was killed off of the daytime soap in 2008, MacKenzie found out she had been cast as Ilse in the 1st National Tour of the hit Broadway musical Spring Awakening. She eventually turned down the role for her Broadway debut in the musical A Tale of Two Cities. Once the show closed in 2009, MacKenzie joined the cast of Next to Normal as a standby and later on starred in the controversial musical White Noise.

In 2011, she auditioned for the role of Cosette in the film adaptation of Les Miserables, but lost the role to Amanda Seyfried.

Undeterred, she then went on to secure a feature role in the musical Giant as Claire “Luz” Benedict in 2012. The same year, she married stage actor John Arthur Greene and they have been happily married ever since.

Currently, MacKenzie can be seen as Abigail on ABC’s Forever, which airs on Tuesdays at 10/9c. Also, make sure to watch her in Into the Woods, which comes out in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day. She will also be starring in Construction, a romantic comedy which is set to come out in August 2015.

MacKenzie is just beginning to make her mark in movies, but we feel that she’ll continue to amaze us for years to come.
