Look We’re Loving: Matching Sets

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen Taylor Swift on the streets, in concert, and even on the red carpet sporting the matching sets trend.

This look is effortlessly cool and super easy for anyone to pull off. It also takes the stress out of putting together an outfit as the top and bottom are right there in front of you.

The good news is anyone can sport this trend. Here are three outfit suggestions for every budget.

The College Student

If you are a recent high school grad or are making your way through college you might have to limit yourself when it comes to buying clothes. But fear not, you can still make this trend work for you. Stores like Forever 21 and H&M are always on top of the trends, and lucky for us, at an affordable price. Pair this set with a pair of chunky heels. The way the pants fall just below the knee may give the illusion for shorter legs. By pairing the outfit with chunky heels, not only are you giving the set a fun look, but you also will be elongating your legs.

The Recent Graduate

So you’ve finally graduated from college and perhaps even landed your first big-kid job. But the bills are rolling in—and don’t even get us started on student loans. You have more money than you did in your college years, but you’re trying to make a conscious effort to save money. But that doesn’t mean you can’t budget some money each month to spend on new clothes. Use that money this month and treat yourself to a matching set outfit. We find that Kohl’s, as well as similar department stores, offer great clothes for a reasonable price.

Pair this flirty set with a sleek pair of heels and minimal jewelry to let the articles of clothing really speak for themselves.

The Working Professional

You’ve trudged through years of saving money and paying off loans and perhaps you finally have the confidence in your paycheck to be able to splurge a little when it comes to clothes. If that’s a possibility don’t skimp with this trend. The great thing about the matching set trend is that you can wear them as a pair, or wear the top or bottoms individually. You could potentially get triple the wear. Don’t be afraid to shop at stores, such as Topshop, to get the most for your money. This set is simple, yet elegant. Pair it with simple heels and statement earrings—perhaps big diamond studs—to really pull the look together.
