Fall & Winter Vacation Ideas On A Budget

Taking some vacation time can be important for the body and mind. Sometimes we just get so wrapped up in our everyday lives it’s nice to take a step away and take a break for awhile.

However, it’s not always easy to just pick up and leave. There are bills to pay and groceries to buy and sometimes saving for a vacation can seem like a daunting task.

But it doesn’t have to be—here are five ideas for a vacation on a budget.

  1. Big City Weekend StayIf you live anywhere near or in a big city, this is perfect for you. Gather friends or loved ones and explore the city as a tourist. If you’re really looking to save money, shy away from staying at a hotel and relax from the comfort of your own home.
  2. A Trip With A Purpose Maybe your favorite sports team is going to be in town or your favorite musician is holding a concert nearby. Perhaps there’s a museum that you’ve always wanted to check out close to home. Use the weekend as an opportunity to do something you really want to do.
  3. Amtrak Although trips aren’t necessarily cheap, Amtrak offers some more affordable vacations. What better way to see the country than to see it by train? If you’re looking to plan your own trips, Amtrak is a great way to travel as fares are typically cheaper than flying and sometimes even driving.
  4. Cabin In The MountainCamping might be a little too chilly during the fall and winter months so why not stay in a cabin? If you’re into skiing or snowboarding, get some friends together and rent out a cabin together. Nothing is better than enjoying the great outdoors with some of your closest friends.
  5. Pick A Random City If you want to take a quick trip but aren’t sure where to go, this is for you. Take out a map, close your eyes, and wherever your finger lands, that’s where you go. Each town has its own unique history and it’s fun to explore and get lost in a new town. If that’s too risky for you, choose a city nearby that you haven’t visited. Chances are, there is always something to do.
