Kat Graham is a rising superstar, and a true definition of a triple threat.The Swiss-born, Los Angeles-raised dancer-singer-actress has been an active part of the entertainment industry since she was six years old, performing in commercials for products such as Pop Tarts and Barbie.
Graham made her full television debut in 2002 in the Disney Channel Original series Lizzie McGuire. She then went on to appear in television shows such as Greek, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Hannah Montana, as well as playing supporting roles in 17 Again and The Roommate.While performing onscreen, Graham also made a name for herself as a dancer, by performing as a back up dancer for lil’ Bow Wow at the BET Awards, and then going on to be a backup dancer for stars such as Missy Elliot and Pharell. She has been featured in numerous music videos, backing up numerous singers from Justin Bieber to Usher to Christina Milan.
But that’s not all. Graham is also an accomplished singer. She began pursing her musical career in 2002, when she wrote “Derailed,” which was featured in the Jean-Claude Van Damme film of the same name. In 2007, she officially began her career as a singer when she was featured on “The Donque Song” and “I Got it From my Mama” on will.i.am’s album Songs About Girls.
Graham traveled on the Black Eyed Peas Black Blue & You tour as a supporting act until she released her debut single “Sassy” in 2010. She has since released several new singles and released her first EP Against the Wall.
Though she has been successful in the entertainment industry for quite some time,, Graham’s main claim to fame is her starring role as Bonnie Bennett in The CW’s hit series, The Vampire Diaries, which premiered in 2009.
The show became an instant success, In 2011, Graham won the “Scene Stealer Female” award at the Teen Choice Awards.
Graham is expected to steal the show once again in this month’s Addicted. Based on the best-selling novel by Zane, an erotic fiction author, Addicted follows businesswoman and sex-addict Zoe (Sharon Leal) in the provocative thriller. Graham plays Diamond, one of Zoe’s affairs in the film, which is set to be released Oct. 10.
While she’s not on set, Graham has been working on her debut full album, from which the single “Power” has already been released. The album “Definitely [has] edge,” Graham told seventeen.com. You’ll get a lot of different colors and different sides of me.
It’s got good vocals, and strong beats.”One thing is sure: Kat Graham is an entertainment star that will be around for quite a few years to come.
Vampire Diaries returned to The CW on Oct. 2. Addicted premieres in theaters nationwide Oct. 10.
